Deeper dive into the property
We have worked hard to add several foundational items and process’s to our property for your safety and enjoyment.
- Whole property water filtration plant. We have a well that supplies all of the water on the land. We added a Springwell filtration plant that filters our water for minerals and has a UV system. We love it so far and it has made a big difference to everything from showers, to extending the life of our equipment, and even the taste of the coffee!
- Recycling. We go above and beyond to minimize what goes to the landfill. While there is no current local recycling in Love county, we take our recyclables to locations in the DFW and OKC areas (call us crazy!).
- Internet. After researching our options, we have upgraded our network by adding a 65 foot tower to reach the local ISP. We live in a rural area, so we don’t have fiberoptic speeds available, but you will have enough to watch movies, do some work, be social, etc. We have replaced the networking with a wireless Gigabit system commonly used in schools, hotels, stores, multi-unit buildings, and farms/ranches (because we’re kind of geeky). We have enabled the systems security protocols and keep our hardware and software updated as soon as changes are released from the company. Orinne Creekside Cabins customers who use our internet will be held to the Arbuckle Communications Terms of Service (https://arbucklecomm.com/terms-of-service/).
- Automation. We try to automate where we can. The three areas that may affect our customers are:
- We’ve added a smart lock on the side of the tiny home that works seamlessly with AirBNB and should simplify check-in.
- Our smoke detector may beep as it goes through a monthly test. If you hear a quick beep do not be alarmed. It will beep continuously if there is smoke. The hosts do get notifications on our phones from the smoke alarm.
- We will be adding water leak detectors under the sinks. If they sense water, they will emit an audible alarm, and will notify us on our phone. If that happens please open the door and see if there is a water leak. To stop the alarm unplug the string “tail” from the plastic housing and let us know.
- Solar. Rhea and I grew up on the West coast (Berkeley, CA and in Eugene, OR) and believe in taking care of the land. We have implemented four solar yard lights, solar lights in the shed, on the decks of the cabins, solar security cameras, and we have panels ready to install. We are committed to finding alternative ways to run the property.
